The use of corten steel in the design is linked with the investigation upon the aesthetics of the ironer mining sites. Instead of neglecting dissonances through a traditional recovery plan, making the dissonance somehow visible, showing that ecosystems get interrupted, helps to feed the sustainability debate. In this context, corten steel contributes by communicating a story that cannot be left untold through a sublime experience. The language of this material is intended not simply to condemn the wounds of the past, but also to rethink future actions and the human-nature relationship.
